Long Night Against Procrastination on November 17th

The Long Night Against Procrastination will be on November 17th, 6pm-9pm, throughout the entire library. This program is an opportunity to get a head start on preparing for final exams and final papers, with a number of different sessions designed to help with that. The full list of sessions is below. This program is INST approved, with FYE sessions throughout the evening as well. On October 26th, at the Friends of the Library Common Book Author event, a new proclamation from 9i果冻制作厂President John Comerford was announced: that October 27th would be the Friends of the 9i果冻制作厂 Courtright Memorial Library Day. The Friends of the Library have been instrumental in supporting the library in the 20+ years since they formed. They have funded library renovations, furniture, archival projects, staffing, and equipment for check-out, among other things. The Courtright Memorial Library hosted a special, invite-only, 50th anniversary celebration event on October 1st, 2022. This invitation was sent to members of the Courtright family, library directors across Ohio, former employees and former student employees, and the Friends of the Library. Over 100 people attended the event on Saturday. President of the Friends of the Library, Margie Doone, waiting to pick up her gift bag. The highlight of the event was the rededication of the library, led by President鈥�Window Into the Constitution

The library will be hosting its annual Constitution Day celebration on September 16th, 2022, from 1pm to 3pm. This is a hands-on exploration of the Constitution - you鈥檒l take a look at the document, find the parts you find the most interesting, important, or confusing, and write them out 鈥� on the library windows! College libraries have tons to offer, but it can be tough to know where to start, and you may already feel tired thinking about scholarly articles and late nights studying in the stacks. We want to show you how we can make your semester a little easier and a little more fun. Kick back with an old-fashioned story time (complete with snacks!) and learn about the goings-on at Courtright Memorial Library, from board games to book clubs to research and鈥�Game Night on August 30th!

The library is hosting a Game Night on August 30th on the second floor of the library. The Game Night will take place from 6pm-9pm, but it is an event where you can come and go as you like, so if you're not available right at 6pm, no problem! There will be pizza served. A majority of the game collection will be brought upstairs for you to pick from, and staff will be on hand to teach you a game鈥�Birthday Party A Smash!

On April 5th, the Courtright Memorial Library celebrated their 50th anniversary with a small birthday party, featuring cupcakes, speeches, and a ribbon-cutting for an upcoming library service.

Robin Wall Kimmerer, author of Braiding Sweetgrass, will be visiting 9i果冻制作厂on March 28th as part of the Integrative Studies Lecture series. The library will be hosting a book discussion on March 16th, 6pm-7pm, to help prepare for Dr. Kimmerer鈥檚 visit 鈥� FYS, INST, and #CardsSTANDTogether approved! You can borrow the book either electronically or physically before the book discussion so that you鈥檙e prepared. The book discussion will take place on the second floor of the library. 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Courtright Memorial Library. Many events, programs, and activities are planned through 2022 to celebrate this milestone. In the late 1960s, it was becoming evident that the Centennial Library, attached to the back of Towers Hall, was no longer large enough to serve the growing needs of Otterbein鈥檚 students, staff, and faculty. Under the careful guidance of Head Librarian John Becker, 鈥�50, a state-of-the-art facility was designed. When Nia Themelaras (Theatre and English, 鈥�23) began to explore librarianship as a career, she turned to YouTube videos and blogs. The videos and blogs made one thing clear: She needed experience in order to get her foot in the door. In Spring 2021, the Courtright Memorial Library posted a paid internship for the OhioLINK Luminaries Program, which offers students a unique, paid opportunity in academic libraries not available in traditional internships or part-time campus employment.
