Game Night on September 7th

The library will be hosting a board game night on September 7th on the second floor of the library. It will run from 6p-8p and pizza will be served. Game Nights are a great opportunity to make new friends and hang out with old ones. This is a drop-in-as-able event, so if you can't be there right at the beginning, don't worry! A new alumni artist show featuring the work of S.L. Ridenour ('10) has been mounted in the Becker Gallery, located in the lower level of the library. The show, entitled "Prologue", will be up through fall semester. A reception will be held for S.L. on September 21st, 6p-8p, in the Becker Gallery, where you can meet the artist and learn more about her work. Join the library for a special evening event with Dr. Beth Daugherty! Dr. Daugherty will be joining us to discuss her new book, "Virginia Woolf's Apprenticeship", on April 11th at 6pm on the second floor of the library. This event is INST approved and will be followed by a reception. Dr. Beth Daugherty's new book Before she was Virginia Woolf, famous novelist, essayist, and diarist, she was Virginia Stephen, apprentice, reader, learner. The Reading Diversely Book Club will be meeting on April 5th at 6pm on the library's second floor to discuss A Psalm for the Wild-Built, a cozy sci-fi novella, by Becky Chambers. This event is INST approved and #cardsSTANDtogether approved. The book club is informal, and you don't need to have been to previous meetings to join in the discussion, nor are you committing to future meetings. You just need to read the book and pop on in! Join the library for Zines 101: How to Make Your Own Zine on March 21st, 6p-7:30p! This is an RSVP-only event, and spots are limited, so make sure you sign-up in advance. The program will take place in the library lower level. Zines are a fun way to express yourself and the possibilities for what to create are endless. During this event you'll spend some time learning about the history of zines, but then you'll have access to the art鈥�Spoken Word for the Soul: Open Mic Night

Celebrate Black History Month by reading and listening to poetry by amazing Black poets - including some from our campus! The library is proud to co-sponsor Spoken Word for the Soul: Open Mic Night on February 21st, 6pm-7:30pm, at the Campus Center. Hosted by Ikra Koyriow and Andy Badu, people are invited to sign up to either read a poem by a Black poet or perform their own poem. There will be books of poetry by Black poets at the鈥�Winter Watercolor Program on February 8th

The library will be hosting a chill evening of watercolors on Wednesday, February 8th, starting at 6pm on the second floor of the library. We'll provide an example of winter scene for you to paint, as well as the watercolors and paper. You just need to bring a willingness to experiment and your creativity! We'll also provide some hot cocoa so you can warm up even as you paint that chilly winter landscape. We hope to see you there!Spring Becker Gallery Artist: Jennifer Overholser

Spring semester brings a new artist to the Becker Gallery on the lower level - Jennifer Overholser! About her exhibit, Jennifer says: "My artwork captures moments in a way similar to how we experience them- quick and fleeting. Not all the details are clear, but the idea is fully described on the canvas. Sometimes details are pushed aside in favor of a bold brush stroke or an exaggerated color, symbolizing how our minds fool us into remembering things the way鈥�Game Night on January 19th!

It's cold outside, so come in, stay warm, and play some games with friends! The library is hosting a Game Night on January 19th on the second floor of the library. The Game Night will take place from 6pm-8pm, but it is an event where you can come and go as you like, so if you鈥檙e not available right at 6pm, no problem! There will be pizza served.
