Otterbein’s New Textbook and Campus Store Partner
Starting this July, 9i果冻制作厂 is partnering with Slingshot, a textbooks and course materials auto-fulfillment program offered to 9i果冻制作厂students.
Slingshot wants you to think of it as a subscription box for all of your learning materials! When you enroll in classes, all of your required course materials will be automatically ordered and ready for you at the Campus Center by the first day of class.
As of the Fall 2025 Semester, all 9i果冻制作厂students have been enrolled in Slingshot鈥檚 auto-fulfillment program with the preference for renting digital books and materials pre-set as the default choice, as it is the most affordable option. With Slingshot鈥檚 services, any student can opt in or opt out at any time. You can also return any unneeded books during a specified window. For Fall 2025, 9i果冻制作厂students can return any materials for a full refund by September 3.

How to access your Slingshot Account
- Visit .
- Click the Log In button in the top right corner of the home screen (see screen shot).
- All registered students already have an account 鈥 use your 9i果冻制作厂student login or your full 9i果冻制作厂student email address and student ID as the password.
- View or adjust your course material subscription preference selection under the 鈥淢y Account鈥 tab. Your materials can be picked up at the Campus Store. Shipping to any other location includes a delivery fee.
- Worried about how to order your course materials? With Slingshot, there鈥檚 no need to place an order! If you opt-in on the My Account page, Slingshot automatically handles everything and delivers all required course materials to the Campus Store before your class start date. All of your books, none of the hassle.
If you choose to opt out of the Slingshot program, you can still buy books a la carte from the Campus Store. You can place an order online or visit the Campus Store to place an order in person.

- Tuition is due Aug. 1, 2025, unless you have enrolled into a monthly payment plan through ePay. Payment plans must be set up by Aug. 1, as well.
- Submit $275 deposit to enroll in monthly payment plan. $245 applies towards your semester tuition charge while the remaining $30 applies toward payment plan set-up fees.
- This is also the deadline for 9i果冻制作厂students to login to their Slingshot student portal account and make any changes in their status and media preferences and ensure their fulfillment of choice.

Obtaining Course Materials
Am I signed up for Slingshot automatically?
Effective July 2025, all registered 9i果冻制作厂students are automatically enrolled* in Slingshot鈥檚 Choice Program, Otterbein鈥檚 new auto-fulfillment program for course materials. Enrollment in Slingshot鈥檚 system means that all the materials for each course you are registered in for that semester will be automatically packaged and available for you at the campus bookstore or online in your student portal by the start of each semester. The power of the Choice Program gives you the option to choose your preference for how you receive your course materials (new, used, digital, or print). If you don鈥檛 specify a preference, you will automatically receive the 鈥渞ental鈥 option, which is the most affordable option available to students.
After you pick your materials up, you can return any books you do not want or need. (See details below for information about refunds, deadlines, and process for returns.) Students that have opted out can still place online orders from Slingshot or the campus store as with any retailer, but Slingshot cannot guarantee book availability.
*You will remain enrolled for future semesters unless you decide to opt out. You must log-in to your Slingshot student portal to officially opt out. You remain 鈥渙pted out鈥 until you manually 鈥渙pt in鈥 again, a decision you can easily make at any time.
What happens for the 2025 Fall Semester if I remain enrolled or 鈥渙pted in鈥 to Slingshot?
If you choose to remain opted in to Slingshot鈥檚 Choice Program, Slingshot receives your class registration information from 9i果冻制作厂and will automatically order and box up all the print materials and add all the digital materials to your Slingshot student portal to fulfill the course materials for all your classes that semester. All you need to do is come to the Campus Store and pick up your box of print materials. Your digital materials will be available through the student portal approximately four days before the first day of class. The charges for your course materials will be automatically added to your student account, where you will be able to use any available Financial Aid to help cover the cost. You can return any of the books from your order for any reason and receive a 100% refund before the stated deadline each semester. For Fall Semester 2025, the deadline is Aug. 27.
How do I access my Slingshot Student Portal?
All students registered for Fall 2025 Semester should be able to review their course materials immediately. To login, visit . Enter your 9i果冻制作厂email address as the username and your student ID number as the password.
What options do I have for course material type, and will I always get my preference?
In your Slingshot student portal, you can set a course material preference (New Purchase, Used Purchase, Rental, or Digital). This preference will apply to all of your materials, unless your instructor has required a specific material format. Usually, Slingshot can provide your selected preference; however, if your preferred type isn鈥檛 available, Slingshot will automatically substitute. You can adjust your preference on the “My Account” page of the student portal. Additionally, you have the option to return any course material for any class that you do not want during the Add/Drop window. For Fall 2025, course materials must be returned by Aug. 27, 2025, for a 100% refund. See the return policy below for returning unused material.
How do I select the format for my materials?
To change their format preference for all courses, students choose their format preference (New Purchase, Used Purchase, Rental, or Digital) in the student portal. This preference will apply to all of your materials, unless your instructor has required a specific material format.
However, if you would like to change the format for one book, for example, but have the rest of your books in your chosen format preference, you have two options:
Before Aug. 1, 2025: You can go to the Buy Books tab in the student portal and purchase the format you would like for that particular book. You can charge the book to your 9i果冻制作厂account or pay with a credit card. Once this purchase is fulfilled, Slingshot will remove that book from your auto-fulfillment process (to prevent duplicating the order of that book).
On or After Aug. 1, 2025: Slingshot will auto-fulfill all books in the preference set by you or if you make no changes to your preference in your portal, your order defaults to the 鈥渞ental鈥 preference. Once you pick up your books, if you would like a different format for one or more books, you can exchange that book for your desired format by coming into the Campus Store or by contacting Customer Service. Slingshot will credit or charge you the difference in the format prices.
Converting Print Material from a Rental to a Purchase: If you want to convert a fulfilled rental book into a purchase, you simply keep the book at the end of the semester. Slingshot will send rental return reminders, but when that book is not returned, Slingshot will pass a charge on to your student account for the difference in the rental and purchase prices. Or you can contact Customer Service and Slingshot will turn off the reminders and convert the purchase. (Just a reminder: your rental converts to a purchase automatically if you forget to return a book as well!)
How are course materials delivered?
Orders for print materials will be available for pickup at the 9i果冻制作厂Campus Store in the Campus Center. You鈥檒l receive an email when your items are ready to pick up. Your digital materials will be available through the student portal approximately four days before the first day of class.
What if an item is missing from my package?
Check the packing list and see if it indicates items may be arriving in separate packages or will be shared digitally. To view details about your specific course materials, login to your Slingshot student portal at . If you are missing an item that shows it was included in this same package, visit the Campus Store, or contact Customer Support for assistance as soon as possible. Customer Support contact options are available at .
If I receive a damaged book, what should I do?
Slingshot uses a system to track slightly damaged books. If you are unhappy with the condition of your book, visit the Campus Store or contact Customer Support () as soon as possible. Slingshot will attempt to provide a replacement item or mark the book as damaged in the system. Marking a book as damaged prevents an additional charge when the title is returned. If you return a book at the end of the course that is damaged, and it does not bear the proper damaged markings, you will be charged for the cost of the book.
What if I ADD a course after the start of the semester?
If you add a course, Slingshot will automatically receive your enrollment information and process a new order for any materials that you need. An email notification will be sent as soon as the item(s) is available.
What if I DROP a course?
If you drop a course, you have until Sept. 3 to return any of your books for a 100% refund. This aligns with Otterbein鈥檚 last day to drop a course with a 100% tuition refund. Digital books are automatically returned for you.
What happens if I don't pick up my books?
Books that are not picked up after three weeks will be returned to the shelves. Prior to this, the store will send an automated email reminder to your 9i果冻制作厂email address on a daily basis. For items needed for a course in which you are enrolled, rentals will be closed and purchases will be refunded 80%. Items not needed for a course in which you are enrolled will be fully refunded. If you ever have questions about an order Slingshot has waiting for you, please reach out to Slingshot.
What is Slingshot's return policy for print materials?
For Fall Semester 2025, any item provided through Slingshot may be returned by Aug. 27 for a full refund with no questions asked. Some digital restrictions apply, see the Digital Course Materials section below. If you drop a course, you have until Sept. 3 to return any of your books for a 100% refund.
Does Slingshot operate during the summer?
The Slingshot Choice Program is not available in the summer. Even if you’ve opted into the Slingshot program during fall and spring semesters, summer course materials will not be automatically fulfilled. However, you can still purchase your books from the Slingshot website or the Campus Store for any summer courses.
Rental Textbooks
Can I write or highlight in my rented textbook?
Yes, Slingshot wants you to treat the book like it鈥檚 your own. However, do be courteous and remember that someone will be using that book after you, so don鈥檛 go overboard and ruin the experience for the next renter.
How do I return my rental books?
Return your books to the Campus Store at the end of the semester. It鈥檚 a quick and simple process. Alternatively, you can ship your books back to Slingshot for free. Just log in to your online student portal, indicate the books you鈥檇 like to return, and click 鈥淩eturn.鈥 The system will walk you through the process.
How do I know when my rentals are due?
Generally, rentals are due either on the last day of final exams or within the first few days thereafter. To find the exact date, visit the 鈥淢y Course Materials鈥 page on the student portal, where you can view your outstanding rentals as well as the date they are due.
What if I miss the rental due date?
Rentals that are not returned by the due date will have a 鈥渞ental not returned鈥 fee charged to your student account, and the item will be converted into a purchase. Billed materials can be returned within 14 days of their billing date for an 80% refund. Contact the Campus Store, or Customer Support, for assistance. Alternatively, you can proactively find buyout options for any current rental book under the “My Course Materials” tab on the student portal, or by reaching out to the Campus Store or Customer Support ().
What if I need to keep my book longer than the rental period?
You can extend a rental by going to the “My Course Materials” page on the student portal, finding the book that you need to extend the due date on, and clicking 鈥淓xtend.鈥
If I decide I would like to keep my rental book, is there an option for me to buy it?
Students can choose not to return (keep) a book. In that case, the Slingshot system will generate a Rental Not Returned (RNR) fee. That fee is the price of the book minus what the student has already paid. The fee is applied to their student account.
Digital Course Materials
How do I access digital items?
Ebooks will be accessed through the student portal under the 鈥淢y Course Materials鈥 page after logging in. Once a digital item is available, an email notification will be sent (it may come after a physical shipment has gone out). Additional digital items could be accessible directly in the course LMS. Digital materials will also be available through a link provided on the Brightspace LMS to free e-reader apps.
If it鈥檚 lifetime access to a digital book, how do students continue accessing the material after graduating?
Digital books are sourced through either the Vital Source or Redshelf e-reader apps. Students will create their own account on those platforms that will facilitate their lifetime access option.
What is a digital 鈥淓xpiration鈥 date?
Digital items vary in regard to the license duration. Some will have an expiration date (viewable under 鈥淢y Course Materials鈥) while others have a lifetime license. If there is an expiration date, that item will no longer be accessible after that date. If the same item is needed again under the same account, all notations you make will still be present, but it can only be accessed while you have an active license for the material.
What if I need to return a digital item?
Digital items fall outside normal return and refund policies, as publishers have different digital policies. Digital items are refundable within 14 days of the first day of access, or 30 days after the purchase is made, whichever occurs first. Additionally, Slingshot cannot fulfill refund requests if more than 10% of the product has been viewed and/or if any page(s) of the product has been printed. Slingshot recommends contacting Customer Support () as soon as possible if you think you will need to return a digital item.
If I decide I would like lifetime access to rented digital material, is there an option for me to buy it?
No. Rentals of digital materials work differently than rentals of print materials. Digital rentals automatically expire at the end of the rental period. If you would like lifetime access to a digital item after the rental period expires, you will need to purchase it separately. You can visit the Slingshot store to see if we are able to get that item, or you can source it independently.
Information for Opted Out Students
If I have opted out of Slingshot鈥檚 Choice Program, can I still order books from Slingshot?
Yes, students who have opted out can use Slingshot like any other online book retailer. However, if you are ordering individual books as an opted-out student, as with other online retailers, Slingshot cannot guarantee your book will be available. However, the charges can be applied to your 9i果冻制作厂student account.
What are my shipping options for individual online orders?
Orders will be available for pickup at the 9i果冻制作厂Campus Store in the Campus Center. If you live off campus, you do have the option to have the books shipped directly to your address; an additional shipping fee will be charged.
How can I track my individual online order?
Once you have placed an order through the website, you can view the order status and tracking number (if applicable) by logging into the student portal and navigating to the “My Transactions” page.
How long will it take to receive my individual order?
The amount of time it takes to get your books depends on the shipping speed you choose and availability of product. Generally, orders are processed within 4-7 business days after you place them and in stock items will ship or be available to pick up within 1 business day. Please note that many of the course materials have digital options that provide you with instant access. When choosing the book condition preference, select “Digital Access” for digital titles.
What is the online individual order return policy?
Online orders can be cancelled, or items returned within 48 hours of purchase with no penalty. Books returned 3-7 days after purchase are subject to a 20% restocking fee. If you drop the class, you can return your book within 14 days of the start of your course with no restocking fee when you provide proof of your course drop. Items must be returned in the original condition that they were provided. Some digital restrictions apply, see Digital Course Materials section for more details.
